How to Dress Up a T-Shirt

Hi there! I am so sorry I haven't posted as often. My school starts tomorrow so as you can imagine it is incredibly hectic right now. I thought this would be a great post, especially for back to school! I am definitely a t-shirt kind of girl. I am always wearing them and trying to find ways to make them look a little nicer and cuter!

The first outfit is very comfortable and great for school. I am really into envelope shorts right now and I love the color of this one! I also am seriously loving this J. Crew tee that says "Endless Summer" in French. The perfect way to make this fun is to throw on some great shoes and a classic pearl necklace. You can always throw on a denim jacket if think you might get cold (for example: at school).

This next outfit is so cute. I am beyond obsessed with this shirt!! I think this is such a comfy outfit and again is great for school or a busy day. The basic idea is that you can throw on any t shirt with some jeans and boots and add a statement necklace to make it look nicer & BAM! a cute outfit.
This next outfit is just amazing. The idea is that you can throw on just about any dress and wear a t shirt over it (I would probably know it by my waist). I paired this with converse and this Burberry backpack!  This is a great way to get more use out of a summer or spring dress.

OK this next outfit is perfect for any plain t shirt (actually all of these outfits have been, but especially this one). This is so so great for school or hanging out with friends. I just took a basic light pink shirt and paired it with a pretty pleated skirt. I would personally wear it with converse and this fun denim jacket! Oh and make sure to tuck in the shirt a little bit in the front or completely tuck it in.

Finally this last outfit is how to dress up a basic striped t shirt (you should know I am obsessed with striped shirts). This outfit is full of things just about everyone has in their closets. Take your striped shirt and wear it with (just about any) skirt, boots, and a cardigan! If it is cold- wear tights. If it is hot- loose the cardigan. Such a cute outfit. You can play around with different colors and styles and always have a cute outfit!

Thanks for reading! I hope this was helpful! Please comment or email me if necessary!

A Very Easy Room Decor DIY

A Very Easy (and Pretty) Room Decor DIY

Hi you guys. Sorry for not posting the past few days. Today I decided to do a little DIY and I thought I would share with you guys!

Materials:

  • Tiny canvas from Joanns (or any craft store). These were $1.99. Get as many as you would like. I just did three.
  • Watercolors and paint brush
  • Sharpie or a paint pen
  • Paper towel
So basically I bought these canvas's about two or three weeks ago and I gave been trying to decide what to do with them! They are just so adorable! Today I finally came up with a good idea. I picked a color scheme of green, blue, purple, and pink. I just did little splotches of three different colors on each canvas. After that I waited for it to dry a little then dabbed at the paint with a paper towel to make the colors a little lighter. I went over the watercolors again and then dabbed a little bit with a paper towel if necessary. Once they were dry I just wrote some of my favorite quotes on them. I am so happy with how they turned out! If you don't want to do quotes, you can write your initials, a note to a friend, a little picture, or really anything!

In case you can't read them, they quotes are (I got all of them from tumblr):

"Raise your words not your voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder"

"Anyone who takes the time to be kind is beautiful."

"A flower does not think of competing to the flower next to it. It just blooms." -Zen Shin

(The final product below)

I just used three thumbtacks and hung them up three inches apart. I originally wanted them to be straight but I really like how this looks so I kept it. It is right next to my desk in my bedroom so I think the quotes are a really nice encouragement! If you do this you should email me a picture!

Grace

What to Wear When Visiting a College

Hi y'all! So I have gone on several college tours/visits (actually going on one today) and I always have trouble figuring out what to wear! I don't want to look like I am trying to hard, but at the same time I don't want to look sloppy or like I don't care! I have finally found a happy medium! I am going to show you guys some outfits that are great to wear on college visits! I hope this is helpful!

Ok for the first outfit, I went with nice jeans/pants, a sweater, oxford flats, and a purse. This outfit is preppy and very collegiate! This outfit is nice, but does not look like you are trying too hard at all. Also it doesn't make you look like an "obvious high schooler" (not that that is a bad thing), but this outfit is mature (you know what I mean?). Also make sure to wear comfy shoes in case you are going to walk a lot.

This next outfit is pretty girly. It is dressy, but casual enough to make it look effortless. It is great if you are doing an interview too. If it going to be really hot outside I like to wear a dress and take a cardigan for inside the college.

Finally, a skirt, a blouse, a sweater, and booties are another great outfit. I really love this top. I think it is great for a college visit.

I hope this helped you all! Please comment or email me if you would like to contact me!

Much love,
Grace

How to Wear: Boyfriend Jeans

Hi you guys! So right now I am so obsessed with boyfriend jeans (I am looking for the perfect pair so I do not own any yet). Boyfriend jeans are so cute and there are so many ways to wear them! You can look girly or sporty or boho or edgy or really anyway you want!

I am going to provide you all some ideas for outfits that include boyfriend jeans!

This first outfit is dressy and glam! This is my personal favorite way to dress up boyfriend jeans! Wear a chic button down blouse, with a statement necklace, heels, a clutch, and of course- boyfriend jeans! Also this outfit is so comfortable (trade out the heels for flats and you will still look glam). Also I would tuck the shirt in a little bit (depending on the length).

The second outfit is kind of bohemian. It's just a simple tank top with a tribal design and fringe, brown sandals, a classic white purse, and the boyfriend jeans! This is a great look for school or just anything casual.

The third look is the ultimate cozy, relaxing day look, but is still super fashionable and can totally be worn in public (perf for school!). It is so comfortable and is perfect for reading books and drinking coffee! If it's cold outside obviously you should wear warmer shoes (or maybe just some fuzzy socks indoors). I adore this pretty sweater and those Birkenstocks (like I have mentioned in previous posts- I am obsessed!). Also I am so in love with that bracelet (sadly it is out of stock which is just so sad!). (Also I would probably roll these boyfriend jeans into a cuff, but thats just me). Oh and if it is cold outside, I would personally wear warm black tights or leggings under my boyfriend jeans so I don't get cold because of the holes.

Ok the fourth outfit is the "edgy" type outfit. It is edgy though with out being super hard core edgy. It is still comfy and casual and good for school. It can of course be changed around to be dressier or good for all seasons and climates. Also Beyoncé is the greatest so I couldn't resist throwing that tank top in there. And again, I would roll the jeans up to right above the boots (also let the socks peek out over the top a bit).

Next we have the girly and preppy outfit. This is probably the way I would wear boyfriend jeans. This one is also the perfect outfit for school. So comfortable and stills looks very put together!  I just love this outfit (and I am seriously digging these boyfriend jeans!) To me this outfit says: I am girly and sweet, but I am so confident and I can totally rock boyfriend jeans!

Okay, lastly this is the high-fashion, sexy way to wear boyfriend jeans! It is just so elegant and the pearls and blazer are so classy! The bustier and heels are sexy (so are the holes in the jeans).

Thank you for reading!! If you want to try any of these looks you should totally email me your take on them (sixteenandfashionable@gmail.com)!! Also how would you all feel about me making an Instagram fashion account and putting OOTD's and telling y'all about new posts! Please comment or email me anytime!

Much love,

How to Wear: Overall Shorts

Hi guys! Sorry I am just now making my post for the day. I have had an incredibly busy day.

Ok so I absolutely love overall shorts! They are so cute and are great for a hot summer day! I actually wore some today (I will make a post with them another time).

Let's get on with this post...

For this first outfit, I would pair these adorable overall shorts with a crocheted tank top, brown sandals, and a gingham wrap headband! This outfit is casual and comfy, but looks really put together.

Okay this next outfit really reminds me of Kendall and Kylie Jenner (happy 17th birthday to Kylie btw). This outfit is definitely nicer and "fancier" than the first one. This is a good way to make overalls look really nice and dressy. White overalls can of course be worn casually (just throw on a t shirt and some flip flops and you are good to go).

Lastly, these overalls from Chicnova.com (actually just $26) have cute little red embroidery on them. They come up a little higher than most overalls, so I would probably just wear a pretty lacy black bra/bralette. I would keep it simple with some Keds and maybe a choker necklace or two.

That's all for this post! Thank you so much for reading!

Much love,
Grace Gunnin

11 Things About Me

Hi there everyone! I thought it might be fun to do a post about myself, so y'all can get to know me a little better. Also please don't hesitate to comment advice, requests (for posts), or criticism!

(This is a picture of me in New York two weeks ago)

11 Things About Me: (I found this tag on this site- http://www.cocorrina.com/2014/02/11-things-about-me-tagged-by-katerina.html)

1. If you could travel back in time, when would that be? Hmmm, probably the 50s or 60s. I love the clothes in that time period! I might travel back to the 90s too haha because I love the clothes and music from that decade (I was born in '98 by the way).

2. When did you know you found the one, if you did? Haha I have never had a boyfriend, but does my cat count? I knew he was the one from the first time I saw him (totally joking).

3. Do you act after giving a lot of thought or impulsively? I usually think a lot before I do something. I like to plan things and make lists (I am a bit of a perfectionist).

4. Do you continue to love those who let you down? Yeah, but of course it depends on the situation

5. Do you believe in friendship between men and women? Oh my goodness is this a legit question? Of course!! I also believe in human and animal friendships. Those are quality friendships.

6. Your favorite quote? Crap I have a long list on my phone of my favorite quotes, there are like 200 quotes on that list, but my current favorite is: "And at the end of the day, your feet should be dirty, your hair messy and your eyes sparkling"- Shanti

7. Would you rather go to New York or a safari in Africa? I would love to go on a safari in Africa! Also I was in NYC two weeks ago haha

8. Y'all I can't find number 8...

9. Would you rather live in another place than the one you live in now? Honestly no. I have always wanted to live in London, but I want to when I am older (not now).

10. There are so many reason to be happy. Name 3. Books, nature, animals.

11. You can learn a lot about a persons character by what they laugh at. Yes or no? Yes I guess. I am a very laugh-y person though, I laugh at everything.

Hope you enjoyed this! I tag all of you to do this!

Much love,
Grace

How to Wear Friendship Bracelets

Hi there everyone! So I really love friendship bracelets (in this category I am including tattoo choker bracelets- which I am trying to learn how to make, rainbow loom bracelets, & your classic friendship bracelet). I am always wearing a friendship bracelet of sorts and have been since I was really little. I have actually had the same friendship bracelet on for two years now. I have a lot though that I take on and off depending on the day. Right now I really love to make rainbow loom bracelets and I think they are just so cute! I am also obsessed with tattoo chokers, especially the bracelets, and I have been trying to teach myself how to make them all morning (with very little success- if I ever learn there for sure will be a post on how to make them!)

So here are some different outfits that I think are super cute with friendship bracelets!

This first outfit is really casual and comfy! I obsessed with overalls (I bought a pair of white, crocheted ones today!!), especially with striped shirts underneath! This outfit would be perfect for seeing a movie, hanging out with friends, or even school (if your dress code permits it!).

This next outfit is also really casual and is great for a hot summer day! I like to throw a bunch of different, fun bracelets on with a really simple outfit (it gives the outfit lots of 'personality'). I also love halter tops in the summer with high waisted shorts. & right now my favorite shoes are Birkenstocks!! They are so comfy and super super cute!

Okay the next outfit is very 90s, so please forgive me (I am obsessed with 90s clothing and I don't know why). I just think this is such a fun summer outfit! It's the type of outfit that makes me want to drive around in my car with friends with all the windows down, singing at the top of my lungs! This outfit would be perfect to wear to a casual party or as a cover up to the beach or to a baseball game (or really anywhere). Also I think friendship bracelets go perfectly with tie dye!
Lastly, this outfit is kinda "dressy" (at least for friendship bracelets). It's just a pretty flowy dress with keds and tons of friendship bracelets. It would be really cute for a casual summer date .

Thank you so much for reading todays post!

Much love,
Grace

Getting Your Wisdom Teeth Out in Style

Hi! I got my wisdom teeth out this morning and I am already feeling great so I thought I would make a post. This is really silly, but I thought I would give you all some tips about getting your wisdom teeth out as well as some potential outfits for the procedure and home.

So first off, you usually get them out somewhat early in the morning. I arrived at the dental office at 7:50 AM and went back to the room at 8:00. So you should definitely wear something very comfy. Also, I was very cold this morning even though they gave me a blanket, so make sure you are prepared for that. Here is an outfit idea and also some hoodies that will keep you nice and warm.

Afterwards you are probably going to feel kinda weird and sleepy. For me it only lasted an hour. At first I couldn't really walk, but I sat down in a chair and watched a movie and felt much better. I tried to drink water but I still had gauze in my mouth so I couldn't swallow and I spit it up all over myself (yeah, nasty I am sorry). After we took the gauze out, I was able to eat some soup and take the prescribed pain pills.

You are going to want to make sure you have lots of soft foods that you do not need to chew (also the medicine makes me starving so I can't stop eating- yogurt, chocolate pudding, ice cream, etc.). I have watched three movies so far. The numbness in my mouth has worn off and I am feeling really good. It is going to be a very quick, easy, painless recovery.

Basically if you are going to get your wisdom teeth out, do not worry (I was so worried). It is so easy, you won't feel a thing. It's not even bad after, I mean what's better than having an excuse to eat ice cream and  watch movies all day.

Thanks for reading!

Much love,
Grace

Back to School: Outfits for the First Week

Hi, today I am going to give you all ideas for outfits for the first week of school. As some of you may know, I have to wear a uniform, but if I didn't have to this is what I would wear. Also I am going to be a junior in high school this year so this is directed towards high schoolers although it would totally work for college as well.

Ok let's begin,

Monday, the first day of school. I suggest not wearing anything too fancy or out there. I would go casual with jeans and a cute top. I would definitely wear my hair down and do loose curls. I would also go with natural makeup.
Tuesday. Tuesday calls for another amazing outfit. Personally I would take it up a notch and wear a casual dress. For hair, I would wear a topknot. Make up should be natural, but if you are feeling it maybe some winged eyeliner.
Wednesday. Wednesday is my least favorite day of the week. It feels like its almost the weekend but you still have two more days. I would wear a skirt with a casual shirt. And of course make sure to add a touch of pink in honor of Mean Girls. For hair I would wear it half up half down with a bow. Make up could have nice gold/brown eyeshadow, brown eyeliner, and some natural pink lipstick.

Thursday. Thursday is a good day because it is almost friday. At this point in the week, I am always exhausted. So today I would go back to wearing jeans. This outfit is so comfy, but it looks totally nice and put together.  I would wear my hair in a high pony tail (straight). For makeup, I would keep it very natural looking.

Friday!! Yeah it's Friday and you have survived your first week of school! I would celebrate with a fun outfit (that you can wear when you hang out with your friends after school to celebrate). I would wear my hair in a braid (maybe pigtail braids?), so that if I want to take it out later it is nice and wavy. For makeup I would do natural makeup, but take some eyeliner with me to school so I can put more on later at night. Also, today because I am wearing a crop top, I added a sweater to go over it so you don't get in trouble at school. Also if you can't wear sandals to school, throw on socks with shoes like these.

So that's all for this post! Good luck with school! I start in 2 weeks (sadly). Have a great rest of the summer! Please comment or email me at sixteenandfashionable@gmail.com if you need to contact me.

Much love,
Grace

My Morning Routine (Summertime)

Hi, today my post is about my morning routine.  I love watched these videos on Youtube, so I thought why not make a post on my blog about my routine! Stay tuned for a night routine sometime soon.

On the typical lazy summer morning, I wake up around 9:30. Usually I lay in bed and check stuff on my phone for about 30 minutes. Then I get out of bed and go to my bathroom. I start by washing my face with Cerave foaming cleansing wash and my Clarisonic.

If I am feeling like putting on make up I will usually just put on Bobbi Brown tinted moisturizer and my Bobbi Brown concealer. I am going somewhere I will put on Maybelline Big Lash mascara and some sort of chapstick on my lips.

If I haven't already put my hair up, I will put it into a top knot with a scrunchie to get it out of my face.

Then I change clothes before I go downstairs. I will usually just throw on a sports bra, athletic shorts, and a t shirt. I always wear my Ugg slippers too.

Now I will go downstairs and get some breakfast. My favorite breakfast is greek yogurt with honey. I add granola too. I always drink chocolate milk in the mornings so I will pour myself a glass of that.

Finally, I will take my breakfast with me and go watch some TV (usually whatever is on Teen Nick or TLC). I will also play Covet Fashion (my favorite app!!) on my phone while I eat breakfast.

That's about it! If you need to contact me please comment or email me at sixteenandfashionable@gmail.com.

Much love,
Grace
